Kroger Non-profit Fundraising Program

After cooperating with various units we finally got an exciting program started, Kroger Non-profit Fundraising Program. Basically this is a program helping our organization (MEGC) to receive donations from Kroger, in which Kroger gives 5% of purchases made by whoever would like to support our organization. The way it works is like this, initially we purchase renewable gift cards from Kroger and sell them to our members (you) at the same price, you can use it at any Kroger stores to purchase anything except services (money orders, lottery tickets, hunting licenses, etc.), and you can recharge your cards later on. MEGC will receive 5% rebate from both initial gift card orders and future recharges.

A few explanations about using the card:
1. When you initially purchase gift cards via our organization, you decide the initial amount on your card ($5 to $500).
2. You use this gift card in the same way you use any other gift cards, no ID required, and you don't need to memorize our organization's full name or account number.
3. You can recharge at the checkout lines, but whenever you recharge your card it needs to be done BEFORE groceries are scanned.
4. You can recharge with whatever payments you like including major credit cards, which means you will still receive the same amount of cash back from your credit card company if you used to receive it.
5. You can recharge your card for any amount up to $500.
6. You can check your balance by calling 1-866-822-6252 (number is printed on the back of the card).
7. A card with a $0.00 balance for over 90 days will be taken out of the system.

A few explanations about the money we receive:
1. Where does the money go?
All the money donated by Kroger will automatically go to our Student Organization's Account at the university.
2. Will our supporters know the financial status of the program?
Yes, Kroger will send us account statements every four weeks and we will post them on our website.
3. What will the money be used for?
We have recently been experiencing funding deficiency, therefore it has been difficult for us to organize as many events as we wish to and sometimes we even had to limit the number of attendance due to the tight budget. With the alternative source of funding from Kroger we would be able to receive MORE funding and organize MORE FREE events for MORE students provided that enough students support us by joining this fundraising program.

If you would like to join this program, please register via the following link and you need to decide the initial deposit amount ($5-$500) while registering.

Although the registration will be open forever, we will start collecting money (the amount is based on your desired initial deposit amount) and ordering gift cards from Kroger after several days if we receive enough registrations. Ideally, after this bulk registration is finished we will only accept new registrations at the beginning of each semester.

All questions concerning this program should be directed to Songtao Tang at tangst@umich.edu, and your support is highly appreciated.

We need your help, and you can help!
