The Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Council successfully conducted the second annual graduate student symposium is on Saturday, the 6th of October, 2001. Graduate students from the department of mechanical engineering presented their research in presentation and poster sessions. The sessions were organized for 4 major areas in mechanical engineering:
  • Design & Manufacturing
  • Solid Mechanics & Materials
  • Fluid & Thermal Sciences
  • Dynamics & Controls.

Goals

The goal of the Graduate Students Symposium is to bring together all mechanical engineering graduate students and to give them the opportunity to present and discuss their research with interested academic and industrial organizations in a constructive and diverse atmosphere. Conducted during the fall semester each year, the symposium aims:

  • to present current graduate students' work to incoming graduate students.
  • to provide a setting for mutual feedback on current research and guidance on future research directions.
  • to give graduate students the experience of presenting and discussing their views or results on different research areas via posters and/or oral presentations.
  • to give cash awards for best contributions.
