Rules for Printing - Black and White Printing
One place where you will do a lot of printing is in the Duderstadt Center. All of the printers in the Duderstadt Center are run by U-M ITCS (Information and Technology Central Services). If you are an Engineering student printing to an ITCS black and white printer (like those on the second and third floor of the Duderstadt Center), then:
- Under the ITCS allocation, you have 400 pages per term.
- After using up the 400 page allocation, you have an additional 500 pages paid for by the College of Engineering. After all allocations are used your student account will be charged.
If you are printing in a CAEN lab (where you have to swipe your ID card), the normal printing rules for engineering students apply (unlimited printing is covered, just don't print more than 20 pages at a time as a courtesy to others in the lab).
Groundworks (Color Printing, etc.)
Groundworks is a facility supporting the production, conversion, and editing of digital and analog media. Macintosh and Pentium computers equipped with CD-R drives, flatbed scanners, slide scanners, slide film exposers, video and audio equipment, and color printers are available on a walk-in, self-serve basis. Large format color printing is also available for a fee. This resource is very helpful for the posters that are assigned in ME 495, and 450.
Groundworks is located on the main floor of the Duderstadt Center and have hours that match those of the Duderstadt Center. In addition, skilled consultants are on duty from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday and until 6pm on Friday to answer questions and assist students, faculty, and staff in using the specialized equipment found there. In addition, the webpage is helpful in outlining the technology available and how to use it.
