GRADUATE SCHOOL ADMISSION AND FEES are governed by the policies of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. The booklet entitled Regulations of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies outlines this information.
Admission to the Mechanical Engineering graduate program is granted to students who have a superior record of achievement in their previous studies and show a strong potential to succeed in studies at the advanced level. Applicants to the master's program normally hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with at least an average grade of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale in their undergraduate work and strong Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
Admission to the doctoral program requires the completion of a relevant master's degree with an average grade of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale plus strong GRE scores. Only those students who have demonstrated excellent scholarship at the graduate level will be considered for the doctoral program.
