Julie Reyer
PhD Student in
Mechanical Engineering
Education:
BS, General Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

MS, Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University

Design optimization of hybrid electric vehicle; she is research assistant on her project.

Activities:
Co-founder of GRIME (GRaduates in Mechanical Engineering), a student organization that creates informal opportunities for graduate students and faculty members to get together; and graduate student representative on the Mechanical Engineering Student Leader Board (MESLB).

Her MEAM Career:
"I came to the U-M because I wanted to work with the top people in my field. I was also given excellent funding. I like the largeness of the U-M, too. I can interact with professors and faculty in my area, throughout MEAM and throughout engineering as a whole. This gives me greater exposure to my entire field."

Julie plans to become a professor, though she may decide to get industry experience first.
