Staff Notes

A warm welcome to:

Thomas Bress, senior research associate engineer in the Walter E. Lay Automotive Lab. Bress is also a MEAM graduate student, working toward his PhD.

Katherine Hoover, academic secretary II, in the Main Office, who came from an Ann Arbor area automobile dealership. She replaces Brandi Bradley.

Olivia Shum, office assistant IV in the NSF Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Machining Systems (ERC/RMS), who previously served in U-M Medical School Administration. She replaces Leigh McGrath.

Tina Smith, administrative assistant I in the Financial Services Office, who came from the U-M Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME). She replaces Jeanni Goormastic.

Martin Stenzel, senior engineering technician, in the Biomechanics Laboratory. He previously served as an electronics technician III at the U-M Dearborn Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He replaces David Warwick.

Sandra Wankel, administrative assistant II, in the Biomechanics Laboratory, who was an office coordinator for CareerSite Corp. in Ann Arbor. She replaces Ana Cabrera.

Claudia M. Hill, left, administrative associate I in the S.M. Wu Manufacturing Research Center (WuMRC), and Shekinah Errington, senior graphic artist in the Communications/ Publications Office (CPO), received 1998­99 CoE Excellence in Staff Service Awards.
Congratulations to:

Anna L. Babbitt, outreach activities manager, who was named Member of the Year by the Unified Minority Mechanical Engineers (UMME) for outstanding support of UMME during 1998­99. She also received a plaque from Pi Tau Sigma for "outstanding support of the U-M Pi Rho Chapter" at its Winter Term Banquet in April.

Erica Ginyard, who was promoted from academic services secretary III to academic secretary IV.

Susan J. Gow, student services associate II, who won the 1998­99 Annual Women's 600 Club Singles Bowling Tournament and trophy in May. She shot 207-183-201 for a total of 591.

Paula Wilks, administrative assistant I, had a poem and story published in Northern Spies, a publication of Washtenaw Community College.
