Advanced Math Requirements
The following classes are recommended as satisfying the advanced
math requirement. The class must be elected for a letter-grade.
If you are interested in a general class on engineering analysis:
ME400 - Mechanical Engineering Analysis. (F)
MA354 - Fourier Analysis and its Applications.
MA417 - Matrix Algebra I. (F, W, Sp & Sum)
MA450 - Advanced Mathematics for Engineers I. (F, W, Sp & Sum)
MA454 - Boundary Value Problems for Partial Differential Equations. (F)
If you are interested in a class on numerical methods:
MA371 - (EN371) Numerical Methods for Engineers & Scientists. (F, W)
MA471 - Introduction to Numerical Methods. (F, W)
CEE303 (EN303) Computational Methods for Engineers & Scientists (F, W)
If you are interested in Probability & Statistics:
STAT412 - Introduction to Probability and Statistics. (F, W, Sp)
STAT425 / MA425 - Introduction to Probability. (F, W, Sp)
STAT426 - Introduction to Theoretical Statistics. (F, W, Sp)
In general, any other mathematics course at the 300-level or higher that requires MA216 or MA215 as a prerequisite will also be acceptable.
Note to SGUS students: only 400-level or higher courses will count towards the SGUS program. Please see ASO.
