Before you register for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), check the application requirements for the schools/fellowships that you plan to apply. In recent years, the GRE has been removed as a requirement from some applications but is required for others. 

We recommend preparing for the GRE with a similar procedure as what you may have done for the SAT. Purchasing preparation materials and studying a few hours a day over the course of a few months before your exam.
