Tuesday, February 6th: RISE Project Planning Workshop, 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom
In surveys, most of the students commented that they had wished that they had better planned their project. We have developed a short workshop focused on planning for RISE projects and tips to reach the key deliverable points. We encourage registered RISE students to come.

Deadline for students to submit a proposal that outlines their project plan. Access the Student Workspace to submit a proposal.

Tuesday, February 13th: RISE Grad School Info Session, 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom
In this info session you will gain knowledge on potential motivations for pursuing advanced degrees, the application process and the graduate school experience.

March / April

Thursday, March 14th: Abstract Lecture, 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom
In this workshop, we will cover the structure of how to successfully format an abstract as well as give students an opportunity to give feedback on their peers abstracts.

Thursday March 28th: Elevator Pitch Lecture, 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom
In this workshop, we will cover how to construct and deliver an elevator pitch. The elevator pitch is a quick summary of you and your work. The name comes from the amount of time it should take to deliver it, which is the duration of an elevator ride (about 60 seconds, or 75 words). It is meant to help you talk about your research work in a professional and concise manner when at a career fair, at professional networking events, and in many other situations.

Thursday, April 4th: MEUS Poster and Presentation Lecture, 7:00-9:00pm via Zoom
To help students prepare for the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Symposium, we developed a Poster & Presentation lecture. In this workshop, we will cover technical presentations and posters with tips on how to develop a cohesive narrative, clear slides and posters and effective communication. We encourage registered RISE students to attend as they prepare for the ME Undergraduate Symposium. Please visit the Author Guidelines.

TBD: ME Undergraduate Symposium Online Check-In
We will send an email to registered students when the check-in site opens (approximately one week prior to deadline). When checking in, students will be asked to confirm their Poster or Presentation Session time, indicate any special requirements, and provide their availability for their Presentation Review Session.

Monday-Wednesday, April 15th-17th: Presentation Review Sessions, 6:30-8:00pm, 2540 & 2636 GGB
To ensure that each presentation meets the standards of the ME Undergraduate Symposium, students are required to attend one of these sessions to receive feedback on a shortened run through of their presentation. If the provided time does not work with a student’s schedule, they are required to reach out to me-aso@umich.edu in advance to find an alternate time.

Thursday, April 18th: ME Undergraduate Symposium
The Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Symposium will be held in the GGB Galleria and 2540 GGB from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Tuesday, April 23rd: Final Paper/Poster Submission Deadline
Deadline for students to post conference paper/poster to the RISE website.  Submit your final paper/poster in your RISE Student Workspace to be archived. It is suggested that students also submit their paper directly to their ME faculty advisor for grading.
