Daly and Dasgupta Selected as Miller Faculty Scholars

03/30/2020

This award, endowed by engineering alumnus Larry Miller, is set up to recognize junior faculty members. Larry has a particular interest in supporting junior faculty whose research intersects with medicine and human health.

This year Shanna Daly and Neil Dasgupta have been selected as Miller Faculty Scholars, for three-year terms.

shanna DalyShanna Daly is an assistant professor and her work includes investigations of concept generation and development practices of novices through practitioners, intersections of diverse disciplines and experiences of individuals and teams that yield innovative thinking, the role of creativity in engineering and how to foster it, exploring problem spaces to identify real needs and innovation opportunities, and developing flexibility to design both radically and incrementally.

Neil DasguptaNeil Dasgupta is an assistant professor and his lab performs research at the intersection of energy science, nanotechnology, and manufacturing.  The goal is to develop scalable, low-cost techniques for the synthesis and assembly of nanostructures to address complex energy-related environmental challenges.  Example applications include solar cells, batteries, artificial photosynthesis, catalysts, water purification, and lightweight composites.
