Jyoti Mazumder elected as a Foreign Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering

The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), has selected, Jyoti Mazumder, Robert H. Lurie Professor of Mechanical Engineering, as a Foreign Fellow. The INAE confers fellowship on Indian and foreign nationals who have demonstrated their eminence in their own chosen area and achieved outstanding accomplishments in engineering & technology. 

Mazumder not only is a professor of mechanical engineering but also of materials science and engineering, and is the director of  the Center for Laser-Aided Intelligent Manufacturing, and NSF I/UCRC for Lasers and Plasmas for Advanced Manufacturing – U-M Site. His research areas are as follows, transforming the field of materials processing by laser from a technological art to scientifically based engineering; laser aided manufacturing; atom to application; technical approach including on-line optical diagnostics, transport phenomena modeling, non-equilibrium synthesis of materials with tailored properties, and their evaluation and characterization.

Jyoti will be virtually inducted into the Academy during the Induction Ceremony at the 2020 INAE Annual Convention on December 17-19, 2020.
