Yoram Koren, the James J. Duderstadt Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Manufacturing and the Paul G. Goebel Professor Emeritus of Engineering, has been selected by both the SME Board of Directors and the International Awards & Recognition Committee as the namesake of the 2017 SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award. Establishing a namesake for this award honors an individual for their lifelong contributions to manufacturing, their commitment to serving as a role model and motivator for young engineers, and for their long-term active involvement in SME.
Since 1980, the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award has recognized manufacturing engineers, age 35 or younger, who have made exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the manufacturing industry.
Assistant Professor Neil Dasgupta has been selected to receive a 2017 Yoram Koren SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award.
Recent ME recipients of the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award include: Chinedum Okwudire (2016), Xiaoning Jin (2016), and Kira Barton (2015).
The 17 recipients of the 2017 SME Yoram Koren Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award will be honored at official SME events throughout the year.
