Assistant Research Scientist Travis Thompson was named one of the Forbes Magazine’s top energy tech entrepreneurs under the age of 30.

Forbes has been compiling the 30 Under 30 list since 2012. The 30 Under 30 community is 4,000 strong the world over, from the U.S. to Europe to Asia. This year the competition received 15,000+ nominations for 600 spots.

Thompson has been working to develop solid-state ceramic batteries using a garnet-based electrolyte. With higher energy density and no chance of catching fire, they could replace lithium ion technology. Ford Motor Company supports his lab.
