The Global CO2 Initiative and its affiliated student organization, the Michigan Carbon Capture Club, are excited to welcome Molly Kawahata to the stage at the University of Michigan on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Molly will speak about the transformative power of hope in the fight against climate change. The talk, “A Hopeful Horizon for Climate Action: Bridging Communications, Cognition, and the Science of Hope,” is free and open to the public, but attendees must register.

Molly is an award-winning speaker, strategist, ice climber, and former climate advisor to the Obama White House and subject of the acclaimed and award-winning Patagonia film, THE SCALE OF HOPE (2022).

Dubbed “the hope whisperer,” Molly has proven that hope is not a fluffy concept — it’s one of the most effective strategies at our disposal.

This event is made possible from the support of generous University of Michigan partners: School for Environment and Sustainability, Erb Institute, LSA Sustainability, Student Life Sustainability, Recreational Sports, Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum, Center for Sustainable Systems, Planet Blue Ambassador, Graham Sustainability Institute, and College of Engineering.
