Assistant Professor Kira Barton has been selected as the first recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). This award recognizes UIUC MechSE alumni who have distinguished themselves in a professional or technical capacity early in their career, which has brought honor to the University of Illinois.
Barton was also recently the recipient of the 2015 SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award and a 2014 NSF CAREER award.
