Dowling Receives Outstanding Professor Award

Professor David Dowling was selected as to receive the 2009 Outstanding Professor Award which was given by the UM Chapter of American Society for Engineering Education.

According to an announcement released by the chapter, the award is designed to honor a professor who, in the view of students, has done exemplary work in the classroom. Dowling was nominated for his teaching of ME 520. His nominator specifically mentioned experiments he performed in class, and interesting anecdotes that supplemented the lecture topics.

He received this award at a ceremony April 22nd, at which he gave a talk entitled “Let the Truth be Your Only Story.”

At the same ceremony ME students Chandresh Mehta and Bart Frischnecht received Outstanding Student Instructor Awards. Honorable mentions went to ME students Dan Johnson, Jedo Kimm and Johnny Chung-Yin Tsai.
