11/17/2017

Yue FanAssistant Professor Yue Fan is the recipient of a Haythornthwaite Young Investigator Award from the ASME Applied Mechanics Division. This award targets university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics that are at the beginning of their academic careers.

The Robert M. and Mary Haythornthwaite Foundation supports scientific research, primarily research in the field of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Robert Haythornthwaite was founder and first President of the American Academy of Mechanics.

Fan’s primary research interest is to provide a substantive knowledge on the mechanics and microstructural evolution in complex materials systems under extreme environments via predictive modeling, and thus facilitate the development of new science-based high performance materials with novel functions and unprecedented strength, durability and resistance to traditional degradation and failure.
