Jack Hu appointed Director of the Program in Manufacturing

jackHuProfessor S. Jack Hu ( https://me-web2.engin.umich.edu/zope/pubdir/bio?uniqname=jackhu ) has accepted the position of Director of the Program in Manufacturing (PIM). He received his B.S. degree from Tianjin University, China in 1983 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan in 1986 and 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he worked as an assistant research scientist in mechanical engineering and, at the same time, held the position of Technical Director of the Auto Body Consortium.

He joined the University of Michigan in 1995 as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 1998. Professor Hu currently serves as the Director of the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (NSF-I/UCRC) for Dimensional Measurement and Control in Manufacturing and is also the Deputy Director of the S. M. Wu Manufacturing Research Center. From 1999 to 2001, he also served as the Graduate Program Chair of Mechanical Engineering. Professor Hu’s teaching and research interests are in manufacturing systems.
