Jeanne Rosario, an accomplished executive with GE Aviation, is the recipient of the 2022 ME Alumni Merit Award. This award recognizes alumni who have made a difference in their field and in the world and was presented to Jeanne at the Alumni Awards Dinner on Friday, September 23, 2022.

A graduate of the University of Michigan’s Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1975, Jeanne’s career started in the Engineering Development Program at GE Aviation. From a Design Engineer to an Executive Manager to the Vice President of Commercial Design for Reliability in Engineering, Jeanne ultimately rose to become Vice President and General Manager for the Engineering Division of GE Aviation. She has been responsible for new product introductions and fleet support programs for commercial, military, and industrial customers and, as VP of GE’s Engineering Division, for directing the research, design, certification, and in-service support of all engine programs for commercial, military, and industrial customers.

Though exceptionally busy, Jeanne continued to serve the Michigan Engineering community as GE’s campus executive for several years, helping to facilitate important research collaborations between the company and Engineering faculty and students on campus, and as a member of Dean Munson’s Advisory Council from 2004-2014.

Among her many honors, Jeanne was named to the GE Aviation Propulsion Hall of Fame, received the Chairman’s Award for Technical Expertise and the Chairman’s Award for Innovation, and became a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). In her election to NAE, Jeanne was cited for her “leadership in advancing aircraft engine design, global engineering, and support for women in engineering.”
