Kaviany Receives ASME Gold Medal

KavianyThe American Society of Mechanical Engineers has awarded ME Professor Massoud Kaviany the James Harry Potter Gold Medal. This award recognizes distinguished achievement and service in the science of thermodynamics in mechanical engineering. Recipients are selected based on contributions to teaching and utilization of thermodynamic principles in research, development and design in the field of mechanical engineering.

Kaviany also serves as a professor of applied physics. His research interests include heat transfer physics, laser cooling of solids and gases, thermoelectric materials and micro-thermoelectric cooler, pore-water in fuel cell electrolyte, and heat transfer in micro-inclusions.
