Kevin Pipe named CoE’s new Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education

Kevin Pipe, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, of Applied Physics, and of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been named the UM College of Engineering’s (CoE) new Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, effective July 1, 2022. Professor Pipe previously served as CoE’s Director of Graduate Degree Programs.

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education works to advance the College of Engineering’s strategic goals toward preeminent education for all Engineering undergraduates. Current focuses are on experiential learning and on educational innovations (ie., pedagogical methods and new technology) that improve learning.

When asked for comment, Professor Pipe said, “I look forward to working with all members of our Engineering community to support continued innovation and excellence in our undergraduate student experience and degree programs.”

Professor Pipe’s research focuses are on microscale heat transfer (especially related to electronic and optoelectronic devices), thermoelectric energy conversion, and medical applications of heat transfer.
