Motamarri receives Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship

Mechanical Engineering PhD candidate Phani Motamarri was awarded the 2013 Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship. Rackham awards this fellowship to approximately 72 students across various disciplines.

Motamarri’s research topic focuses on developing a real space multi-scale methodology for electronic structure calculations at macroscopic scales using Kohn-Sham density-functional theory. His advisor is Assistant Professor Vikram Gavini.

Before coming to Ann Arbor, Motamarri worked for General Motors India Science Lab as a researcher and received a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
