Professor Jun Ni Elected as ASME Fellow

Jun Ni Professor Jun Ni has been elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His citation reads:

“Professor Jun Ni is a world renowned scholar in manufacturing research and education. He has made substantial contributions to the field of manufacturing, in particular manufacturing equipment modeling and control, manufacturing process analysis and improvement, and automotive manufacturing. He has not only published extensively in technical archival journals, but also successfully implemented many of his research findings in industrial applications. He is also an innovative educator and has been actively engaged in manufacturing education for more than 15 years. Dr. Ni has also been an active member of ASME since 1987. He is currently the Chair of ASME Manufacturing Engineering Division.”

Professor Ni also serves as ME’s Director of Laboratories; Director, S. M. Wu Manufacturing Research Center ( http://wumrc.engin.umich.edu/ ); Deputy Director, NSF Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems ( http://erc.engin.umich.edu/ ); and Co-Director, NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Intelligent e-Maintenance Systems.
