Assistant Professor Donald Siegel has been chosen to receive the 2013 SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, for his outstanding achievements in teaching, curriculum development and research.

Siegel said his development of short courses for the Integrated Systems + Design’s certificate in emerging automotive technology, and the Google video series he developed on batteries likely made him a top candidate for the award.

“The work we have been doing, in course development, outreach, to both lay audiences and professionals — maybe that was viewed favorably by the selection committee,” he said.

As a part of the award, Siegel will be visiting Chrysler to see some of the inside workings of the industry.

“I’m grateful to the people who wrote me recommendation letters,” Siegel said. “It’s a great honor and I’m flattered.”
