05/16/2011

CeccioME Professor Steve Ceccio has recently been selected as Chair of the Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NAME) Department. He will start his 5-year term appointment beginning July 1st.

Steve Ceccio is currently a Professor for both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering departments. He received his B.S. of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan back in 1985 and went on to attain his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, in 1986 and 1990 respectively. His research interests follow along the lines of fluid mechanics with an emphasis on experimental methods, multiphase flows, high Reynolds number flows, cavitation and bubbly flows, optical flow measurement methods, and electrical & radiation based tomography. Professor Ceccio will be replacing Armin W. Troesch.

With Steve’s strong ties with the ME department, this appointment should have a positive effect on building an even stronger relationship between the ME and NAME departments.
