Smart Manufacturing Series – Yangliang Zhang

This presentation covers recent breakthroughs in additive and smart manufacturing methods for creating advanced functional materials. Highlights include high-throughput techniques for precisely integrating nanoscale components, rapid development of materials for energy applications, and innovative methods for producing wearable and implantable bioelectronics and bioprinted tissues.

Yanliang Zhang is Professor and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Collegiate Chair at University of Notre Dame. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2011, and his M.S. and B.S. from Southeast University in 2008 and 2005. His research focuses on multi-materials additive manufacturing, autonomous and smart manufacturing, sustainable energy and electronic systems, bioprinting, and wearable/implantable devices for precision and personalized health. He has received honors including NSF Career Award, Young Investigator Award from International Thermoelectric Society, IBM Fellowship award, and multiple best paper awards at international conferences. His lab has published papers in top journals such as Nature, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Materials, etc.
