Barber to be recipient of 2012 TAA “Texty” Textbook Excellence Award

02/24/2012

BarberProfessor Jim Barber is the recipient of the 2012 TAA “Texty” Textbook Excellence Award for his textbook, “Intermediate Mechanics of Materials,” 2nd Edition. Text and Academic Authors (TAA) designed the Textbook Excellence Award in 1992 to recognize current textbooks and learning materials.

This award, also called the “Texty,” was created because TAA felt that text materials did not have an award of their own. To be nominated, a work must carry a copyright date for the previous or current year. Judges rate textbooks based on criteria such as how interesting, informative, well-organized, and teachable the text is.

Barber will be honored at the TAA Awards Ceremony, held during the association’s annual conference in June.
