Going beyond driving or tele-operating single vehicles, an up-to-date digital environment is needed to help humans operate fleets of autonomous vehicles.
Neil Dasgupta, associate professor of mechanical engineering and materials science and engineering at the University of Michigan, has been named the 2025 ASME Thar Energy Design Award winner.
Oldham joins approximately 3,000 of ASME’s more than 75,000 active members to be recognized as a Fellow. ASME Fellows are members of the organization who “have been responsible for significant engineering achievements.”
A new design makes a technique for studying metals, ceramics and rocks available in a standard laboratory, expanding access for students, academic researchers and industry.
Adera was recognized for “excellence in research, teaching, mentoring, and professional contributions to ASME, InterPACK, and ITherm Conferences; and for extensive and distinguished service to students.”
Two Mechanical Engineering PhD candidates were awarded Rackham Predoctoral Fellowships for 2025-26 for their outstanding dissertation research.
The award is given annually to individuals who have served as an exemplar of formal or informal mentorship of STEM students outside of classroom teaching.
The 2025 symposium was held on March 28 and included research talks by faculty members, panels from students and staff, small group discussions, and networking.
Each year, the U-M Department of Mechanical Engineering recognizes undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated excellence in research, academics, leadership, and/or in the embodiment of the character and leadership critical to a successful career in mechanical engineering.
