Professor Dawn Tilbury Receives Best Paper Award

Professor Dawn Tilbury was recently honored with the award for best paper as a co-author of a paper submitted for the 2002 Network, Operations, and Management Symposium (NOMS). The paper was titled “Using MIMO feedback control to enforce policies for interrelated metrics with application to the Apache web server”. The papers authors included: Yixin Diao, Joseph Hellerstein, Sujay Parekh all of the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and Neha Gandhi and Dawn Tilbury of the University of Michigan. Neha, a December 2001 graduate (M.S. M.E.), was one of Professor Tilbury’s research students. Dr. Hellerstein is also an alumnus of the University of Michigan.

The NOMS conference, which is co-sponsored by IEEE (Communications Society) and IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), is held every other year. NOMS and IM (Symposium on Integrated Management) are the top conferences for research in network systems. There were over 180 papers submitted for the conference and 57 were accepted for publication. The top 10 papers were reviewed by current and past chairs of NOMS and IM.
