Albert Shih Elected Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering

12/11/2019

Albert Shih

The International Academy for Production Engineering (CRIP), is the world-leading organization in manufacturing research. Fellows are internationally recognized scientists elected to be CIRP members for life.  The academy has restricted membership to 15 per country based on excellence in research. Professor Shih joins an elite group of about 175 of the world’s scholars during the 68th General Assembly of CIRP in Birmingham, England this year.

Professor Shih’s research focuses on design and manufacturing, biomedical device design, biomedical manufacturing, medical innovation, machining of advanced engineering materials, and micro-manufacturing. Some of the current work in his group is on additive manufacturing of custom orthoses and prostheses, where the team is 3D printing silicone prostheses that are custom to the wearer, with a much quicker turnaround. We congratulate Professor Shih on this prestigious honor.
