Professor Volker Sick and his former student, Claudia Fajardo (now an Assistant Professor at Western Michigan University), were presented with the Silver Combustion Medal of the Combustion Institute, at the 32nd International Symposium on Combustion, held in Montreal this past week.
This award is presented biannually by the Combustion Institute to recognize the best paper that was presented at the previous Combustion Institute; in this case the Symposium that was held in Heidelberg, Germany, in 2006. Their work on Flow field assessment in a fired spray-guided spark-ignition direct-injection engine based on UV particle image velocimetry with sub crank angle resolution was selected as winner from over 900 initial submissions.
