Okwudire and Johnsen will be honored at the ME Spring Banquet

This award honors students, student organizations, and faculty members at the University of Michigan North Campus who exemplify the leadership and vision of Dr. King through their commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion

Assistant Research Scientist Travis Thompson was named one of the Forbes Magazine's top energy tech entrepreneurs under the age of 30

Five ME faculty members received College of Engineering Awards in 2017. These recipients include Shorya Awtar, Margaret Wooldridge, Wei Lu, Michael Thouless, and Miki Banu

Professor Sridhar Kota's article, "Universities Must Help Educate Woefully Uninformed Lawmakers," was featured in Wired Magazine.

These faculty are Dawn Tilbury (Chair of the Engineering's Steering Committee on Advanced Manufacturing), Steve Ceccio (Associate Dean for Research), Jing Sun (Chair of NAME)

Vesper announced that it has closed on a $15 million Series A round led by Accomplice with participation also coming from Amazon's Alexa Fund, Hyperplane, Miraenano Tech, and other investors

This course is an introduction to the finite element method as applicable to a range of problems in physics and engineering sciences.

The paper is titled "Dendrites and Pits: untangling the complex behavior of lithium metal anodes through operando video microscopy"

“People have a fairly good understanding of what happens in embryos before and after implantation,” said Jianping Fu, “But what is happening during implantation, including the process of amnion development, is a black box.”

They are honored for the development of an advanced battery management system accounting for electro-thermo-mechanical phenomena

Thouless' father is honored for his contributions to the field of topology

The symposium will take place at the Biophysical Society 61st Annual Meeting in New Orleans, February 11-15, 2017

Since 1980, the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award has recognized manufacturing engineers, age 35 or younger, who have made exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the manufacturing industry.

This award recognizes outstanding service to the manufacturing engineering profession in technical communications through published literature, technical writings or lectures.

In addition to Yue Shao, 7 other ME graduate students won CoE Graduate Symposium Awards

The paper is titled "Mechanosensitive subcellular rheostasis drives emergent single-cell mechanical homeostasis"

The P&G Innovations in 3D Printing Challenge sought diverse teams of scientists and engineers to develop solutions to modern problems in additive manufacturing.

This award is presented for demonstrated sustained outstanding leadership contributions to the DSCD, to ASME, and to the fields of interest to the DSCD.

The ME department is pleased to welcome Jesse Capecelatro, Daniel Cooper,  Bogdan Ioan Popa, and Yue Fan, who are joining the faculty as assistant professors

Improving the functionality of robotic and manufacturing systems "comes down to understanding your system and identifying a strategy for improving performance," says ME Assistant Professor Kira Barton, whose laboratory combines fundamental and experimental modeling and controls research, from multi-agent coordination to additive manufacturing

To ensure that the systems they design will operate as intended, engineers construct controllers which ensure the largest possible set of configurations of a system behave as intended.

ME faculty play integral role in robotics at U-M, conduct vital research

This award aims at motivating future researchers to contribute to the Dynamic System and Control scientific community, by recognizing outstanding and original scientific work developed by students

This award is given annually by the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of ASME to the authors of the best paper published in the ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems Measurement and Control during the preceding year
