The ME Undergraduate Machine Shop team has received the University of Michigan’s Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award for their work to improve accessibility in the shop, which also yielded a new framework for evaluating industry standard equipment setups.
Susan Cheng has won the award for using “her expertise as an ecosystem ecologist to examine the ‘ecosystem’ of STEM, building partnerships that inspire changes in equity and inclusion at the classroom, department, and disciplinary levels.”
The North Campus’ Deans’ MLK Spirit Awards were held on January 16th, 2023. Solomon Adera, Susan Cheng, Alondra Ortiz-Ortiz, Yves Nazon, and Thanina Emily Makhlouf are 2023 recipients.
Kristel Oelke, a senior undergraduate academic adviser in the UM Department of Mechanical Engineering, has won an ACUM Advising Award from the Advisory Council of U-M.
