The Washington Academy of Sciences is an affiliated academy comprised of over sixty science societies. They have published articles of scientific interest since 1899. Over their years they have honored many for their achievements in STEM and continue to do so today.
For the 2020 Leadership Award, they have selected Dawn Tilbury as the recipient. Tilbury is a professor of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and computer science. She has been honored for leadership in advancing engineering research and for exceptional mentoring of engineering students.
Tilbury’s research focuses on control theory and applications, manufacturing, performance management of computing systems, among other subjects. She is the former associate dean for research at U-M’s College of Engineering, and leads the NSF Engineering Directorate.
