This award recognizes significant contributions to the sciences and technologies associated with adaptive structures and/or materials systems.
This award is presented annually to senior graduate students who have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship in an area of applied mechanics.
Professor Wei Lu and PhD student Hossein Rokni’s research focuses on the nanoscale probing of interaction in atomically thin layered materials.
This award targets university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics that are at the beginning of their academic careers.
This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of solidification science.
“The ability to use tried and true metal forming processes such as stamping on new composite materials, especially green composites, has the potential to speed the adoption of lightweight materials in automotive and other applications,” said Banu.
The paper is titled “Mechanosensitive subcellular rheostasis drives emergent single-cell mechanical homeostasis”
The planned Center of Excellence in Nano Mechanical Science & Engineering (NAMSE) will be a state-of-the-art research facility set for completion in Summer 2013.
The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining is a major UK engineering institution whose activities encompass the whole materials cycle
